Grades 1-4 We will start each class with a reading of a picture book, then discuss the different ways the illustrator uses art to tell the story. We will look at different styles and work on art of our own, using a variety of techniques...drawing, painting and collage.
Grades 5-8We will study a different illustrated text each class, and discuss the tools an artist uses to effectively tell a story...character design, storyboarding, setting, lighting and technique. Each student will also create a finished piece of artwork, illustrating a story of their choice.
